An example of entrepreneurship that I have experienced in my life is when my close family friend and my dad's childhood best friend created Aziza's Place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Amjad Ghori created Aziza's Place in honor of his young daughter, one of my childhood friends, who passed away. Aziza's Place is a children's boarding school which gives an opportunity for higher education and a more stable place to live for kids whose families are unable to provide. The children live, learn, play, and are fed at the school. They are taught discipline, manners, and many life skills that create opportunities for them to succeed. Amjad has created a board of directors who help organize finances, funding, and new projects for Aziza's Place. They frequently accept paid interns who stay to teach and work with the kids for months or even years at a time. I have personally visited Aziza's Place two times and am able to understand how the children's lives have changed for the better because of the school. I have seen first hand how successful Aziza's Place was in its first few years as a start up school. The link to their website is:

I chose to take this class as an elective because it is able to be applied to real life and is relevant to where my career will probably take me. This semester, I hope to learn valuable information about businesses as well as how they are run and maintained.
That's amazing Amy! I believe that their is nothing more meaningful than taking care of children, and the fact that you know someone that pours their heart and soul into teaching children in Cambodia that there is more meaning to life than what their parents can give. I am honored to meet you. Hopefully we can get through this semester and realize our true potential as possible business owners or operators in the near future.

I really find your story inspiring for me since I have always thought of making a foundation to help others in my home country Colombia that also lack the resources to succeed and become someone in life. I really wish everything goes well with the foundation to bring many children to have a promising future and make a change in the world like you, Mr. Ghori, and all the volunteers that have collaborated in making Aziza’s Place a fruitful project.
